Create a Read-Only Instance

<p>This article describes how to create a read-only instance including citywide read-only instance and remote read-only instance.</p> <p><span style="font-size:18px"><strong>Overview</strong></span></p> <p>To reduce pressure of reading RDS general instances and realizing elastic expansion of database reading capability, you can create one or multiple read-only instances. In this way, it can meet the massive reading demand of database.</p> <p><span style="font-size:18px"><strong>Prerequisites</strong></span></p> <ol> <li>You have successfully created a general instance. For more information, see <a href="http://pinganyun.com/ssr/help/database/RDS/User_Guide_RDS_PostgreSQL.Instance_Management.Create_Instance.Create_Common_Instance" target="_blank">Create a General Instance</a>.</li> <li>The system has successfully created a citywide disaster recovery instance in the time segment you set.</li> </ol> <p><span style="font-size:18px"><strong>Usage Guidelines</strong></span></p> <ol> <li>Multiple citywide read-only instances can be created but we recommend that you create no more than five.</li> <li>Only one remote read-only instance can be created in each region.</li> <li>Its storage specification is the same as that of the general instance by default.</li> </ol> <p><span style="font-size:18px"><strong>Procedures</strong></span></p> <p>1.&nbsp; Log in to the <a href="http://pinganyun.com/console/rds/overview" target="_blank">RDS Console</a>.</p> <p>2.&nbsp; In the left navigation pane, click <strong>RDS-PostgreSQL</strong> to enter the <strong>DBPaaS for RDS-PostgreSQL</strong> page.</p> <p>3.&nbsp; Select the target region.</p> <p>4.&nbsp; In the <strong>Operations </strong>column of the target general instance, click <strong>Manage</strong>. Select <strong>Information</strong> tab.</p> <p>5.&nbsp; In the <strong>Information</strong> area, click <strong>CREATE READ ONLY INSTANCE</strong> on the right side of the page to enter the<strong> Create Read Only Instance</strong> page.</p> <p>6.&nbsp; In the area of <strong>Information of Main Instance</strong>, view and check the basic information of a general instance.</p> <p>7.&nbsp; Create a read-only instance based on the following information.</p> <table border="1" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <tbody> <tr> <td style="background-color:#ededed; vertical-align:top"> <p><strong>Configuration item</strong></p> </td> <td style="background-color:#ededed; vertical-align:top"> <p><strong>Description</strong></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top"> <p>Region</p> </td> <td style="vertical-align:top"> <p>It refers to the region of a read-only instance. You can select a different specification from that of a general instance based on the business demand.</p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top"> <p>Billing Method</p> </td> <td style="vertical-align:top"> <p>Its billing method is the same as that of the general instance and cannot be modified.</p> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> <p>8.&nbsp; Click <strong>Confirm Order</strong>. Enter the <strong>Order Confirmation</strong> page to confirm relevant information of the read-only instance.</p> <p>9.&nbsp; Click <strong>CONFIRM</strong> <strong>OPEN</strong>.</p> <p><span style="font-size:18px"><strong>Result</strong></span></p> <p><strong>Method 1:</strong></p> <ol> <li>On the <strong>Payment Result</strong> page, click <strong>VIEW ORDER </strong>to enter the <strong>Order Management</strong> page.</li> <li>The <strong>Status</strong> of target order is <strong>Finished</strong>.</li> </ol> <p><strong>Method 2:</strong></p> <p>In the left navigation pane, click <strong>RDS-MySQL. </strong>On the <strong>DBPaaS for RDS-MySQL</strong> page, select the target region.
