Create a General Instance

This article describes how to create an RDS MySQL general instance. Usage Guidelines After an RDS MySQL general instance is successfully created: <ol> <li>Region and availability zone shall not be modified.</li> <li>Instance name is automatically generated by the system and cannot be modified. But you can manage them in a unified way via custom instance tags. For more information, see <a href="http://pinganyun.com/ssr/help/database/RDS/User_Guide_RDS_PostgreSQL.Instance_Management.Change_Instance_Name" target="_blank">Set an Instance Tag</a>.</li> </ol> Procedures 1.  Log in to the <a href="http://pinganyun.com/console/rds/overview" target="_blank">RDS Console</a>. 2.  In the left navigation pane, click RDS-PostgreSQL to enter the DBPaaS for RDS-PostgreSQL page. 3.  In the upper-right corner of the page, click Create RDS to enter the Create Instance page. 4.  Create an RDS PostgreSQL general instance based on the following information. <table border="1" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <tbody> <tr> <td style="background-color:#ededed; vertical-align:top; width:126px"> Configuration item </td> <td style="background-color:#ededed; vertical-align:top; width:662px"> Description </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> Payment Method </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> It supports purchasing an RDS PostgreSQL instance with the billing method of: •   Pay as you Go •   Prepayment </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> Region </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> The region in which an RDS PostgreSQL general instance is created. </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> Master Node </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> The master availability zone in which an RDS PostgreSQL general instance is created. </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> Database Version </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> The PostgreSQL protocol versions that are supported. </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> Data Encryption </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> Whether to encrypt the data files. Data encryption is disabled by default. <img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20200607144656-1b1fe679911b.png" style="height:23px; margin:0px; width:90px" />: Enabling the data encryption function can effectively avoid data leakage but will significantly increase the CPU usage ratio. Enable the function with caution based on your business demand. </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> Compute Spec </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> The CPU and memory of instances. •  After a general instance is successfully created, CPU and memory of the instance can be modified. For more information, see <a href="http://pinganyun.com/ssr/help/database/RDS/User_Guide_RDS_PostgreSQL.Capacity.Upgrade.Upgrade_Common_Spec" target="_blank">Capacity Management</a>. •  Different computing specifications are corresponded to different maximum connections and IOPS. For more information about the specific computing specifications, see <a href="http://pinganyun.com/ssr/help/database/RDS/Product_Introduction.Instance_Type.RDS_PostgreSQL" target="_blank">RDS PostgreSQL</a> of instance type. </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> Storage Spec </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> The storage capacity of instances. <img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20200607144656-1b1fe679911b.png" style="height:23px; margin:0px; width:90px" />: After a general instance is successfully created, the storage specifications of corresponding disaster recovery instance and read-only instance are identical with those of the general instance. </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> Username </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> The administrator account will be created when you create an RDS PostgreSQL instance. You can use the account to create database and other non-administrator accounts in the instance. <img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20200607144656-1b1fe679911b.png" style="height:23px; margin:0px; width:90px" />: 1. If you use the version earlier than PostgreSQL 9.6.10 and want to have an administrator account, you need to update the database version to 9.6.10. 2. The length of username is 2 to 16 characters. It must contain one or multiple types of lowercase letters, digits, or underscore (_). But the first character should be a lowercase letter and the last character should be a lowercase letter or digit. </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> Password </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> The corresponding password of the created account. <img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20200607144656-1b1fe679911b.png" style="height:23px; margin:0px; width:90px" />: •  The length of a password is 8 to 20 characters. •   It must contain uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and digits. </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> Confirm Password </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> Enter the password again. </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> Style </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> It refers to the account type. Currently only administrator account is supported. </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> Database Backup </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> Database backup service is provided. For more information, see <a href="http://pinganyun.com/ssr/help/backup/DBRS/introduction.whatis" target="_blank">What Is DBRS</a>. </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> Quantity </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> It refers to the quantity of the purchased RDS PostgreSQL instances. Its value range is one to five. </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> Purchasing Options </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> If the Payment Method of Prepayment is selected, Duration and Automatic renewal options also need selection. •   Duration is from 1 month to 60 months. One month is the default value. •   The cycle of Automatic renewal is one month. It is paid per month and enabled by default. For more information, see <a href="http://pinganyun.com/ssr/help/database/RDS/Pricing.Billing_Overview" target="_blank">Billing</a>. </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> 5.  Click Confirm Order to enter the Order Confirmation page to confirm relevant information of RDS PostgreSQL instance. 6.  Click CONFIRM OPEN. Result Method 1: <ol> <li>On the Payment Result page, click VIEW ORDER to enter the Order Management page.</li> <li>The Status of target order is Finished.</li> </ol> Method 2: In the left navigation pane, click RDS-PostgreSQL. On the DBPaaS for RDS-PostgreSQL page, select the target region.
