Create a General Instance

<p>This article describes how to create an RDS MySQL general instance.</p> <p><span style="font-size:18px"><strong>Usage Guidelines</strong></span></p> <p>After an RDS MySQL general instance is successfully created:</p> <ol> <li>Region and availability zone shall not be modified.</li> <li>Instance name is automatically generated by the system and cannot be modified. But you can manage them in a unified way via custom instance tags. For more information, see <a href="http://pinganyun.com/ssr/help/database/RDS/User_Guide_RDS_PostgreSQL.Instance_Management.Change_Instance_Name" target="_blank">Set an Instance Tag</a>.</li> </ol> <p><span style="font-size:18px"><strong>Procedures</strong></span></p> <p>1.&nbsp; Log in to the <a href="http://pinganyun.com/console/rds/overview" target="_blank">RDS Console</a>.</p> <p>2.&nbsp; In the left navigation pane, click <strong>RDS-PostgreSQL</strong> to enter the <strong>DBPaaS for RDS-PostgreSQL</strong> page.</p> <p>3.&nbsp; In the upper-right corner of the page, click <strong>Create</strong> <strong>RDS</strong> to enter the <strong>Create Instance</strong> page.</p> <p>4.&nbsp; Create an RDS PostgreSQL general instance based on the following information.</p> <table border="1" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <tbody> <tr> <td style="background-color:#ededed; vertical-align:top; width:126px"> <p><strong>Configuration item</strong></p> </td> <td style="background-color:#ededed; vertical-align:top; width:662px"> <p><strong>Description</strong></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> <p>Payment Method</p> </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> <p>It supports purchasing an RDS PostgreSQL instance with the billing method of:</p> <p>&bull;&nbsp;&nbsp; Pay as you Go</p> <p>&bull;&nbsp;&nbsp; Prepayment</p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> <p>Region</p> </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> <p>The region in which an RDS PostgreSQL general instance is created.</p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> <p>Master Node</p> </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> <p>The master availability zone in which an RDS PostgreSQL general instance is created.</p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> <p>Database Version</p> </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> <p>The PostgreSQL protocol versions that are supported.</p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> <p>Data Encryption</p> </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> <p>Whether to encrypt the data files. Data encryption is disabled by default.</p> <p><img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20200607144656-1b1fe679911b.png" style="height:23px; margin:0px; width:90px" />: Enabling the data encryption function can effectively avoid data leakage but will significantly increase the CPU usage ratio. Enable the function with caution based on your business demand.</p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> <p>Compute Spec</p> </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> <p>The CPU and memory of instances.</p> <p>&bull;&nbsp; After a general instance is successfully created, CPU and memory of the instance can be modified. For more information, see <a href="http://pinganyun.com/ssr/help/database/RDS/User_Guide_RDS_PostgreSQL.Capacity.Upgrade.Upgrade_Common_Spec" target="_blank">Capacity Management</a>.</p> <p>&bull;&nbsp; Different computing specifications are corresponded to different maximum connections and IOPS. For more information about the specific computing specifications, see <a href="http://pinganyun.com/ssr/help/database/RDS/Product_Introduction.Instance_Type.RDS_PostgreSQL" target="_blank">RDS PostgreSQL</a> of instance type.</p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> <p>Storage Spec</p> </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> <p>The storage capacity of instances.</p> <p><img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20200607144656-1b1fe679911b.png" style="height:23px; margin:0px; width:90px" />: After a general instance is successfully created, the storage specifications of corresponding disaster recovery instance and read-only instance are identical with those of the general instance.</p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> <p>Username</p> </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> <p>The administrator account will be created when you create an RDS PostgreSQL instance. You can use the account to create database and other non-administrator accounts in the instance.</p> <p><img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20200607144656-1b1fe679911b.png" style="height:23px; margin:0px; width:90px" />:</p> <p>1. If you use the version earlier than PostgreSQL 9.6.10 and want to have an administrator account, you need to update the database version to 9.6.10.</p> <p>2. The length of username is 2 to 16 characters. It must contain one or multiple types of lowercase letters, digits, or underscore (_). But the first character should be a lowercase letter and the last character should be a lowercase letter or digit.</p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> <p>Password</p> </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> <p>The corresponding password of the created account.</p> <p><img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20200607144656-1b1fe679911b.png" style="height:23px; margin:0px; width:90px" />:</p> <p>&bull;&nbsp; The length of a password is 8 to 20 characters.</p> <p>&bull;&nbsp; &nbsp;It must contain uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and digits.</p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> <p>Confirm Password</p> </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> <p>Enter the password again.</p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> <p>Style</p> </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> <p>It refers to the account type. Currently only administrator account is supported.</p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> <p>Database Backup</p> </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> <p>Database backup service is provided. Its value range is one to five.</p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:126px"> <p>Purchasing Options</p> </td> <td style="vertical-align:top; width:662px"> <p>If the <strong>Payment Method</strong> of <strong>Prepayment</strong> is selected, <strong>Duration</strong> and <strong>Automatic renewal</strong> options also need selection.</p> <p>&bull;&nbsp;&nbsp; <strong>Duration</strong> is from 1 month to 60 months. One month is the default value.</p> <p>&bull;&nbsp;&nbsp; The cycle of <strong>Automatic renewal</strong> is one month. It is paid per month and enabled by default.</p> <p>For more information, see <a href="http://pinganyun.com/ssr/help/database/RDS/Pricing.Billing_Overview" target="_blank">Billing</a>.</p> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> <p>5.&nbsp; Click <strong>Confirm Order</strong> to enter the <strong>Order Confirmation</strong> page to confirm relevant information of RDS PostgreSQL instance.</p> <p>6.&nbsp; Click <strong>CONFIRM OPEN</strong>.</p> <p><span style="font-size:18px"><strong>Result</strong></span></p> <p><strong>Method 1:</strong></p> <ol> <li>On the <strong>Payment Result</strong> page, click <strong>VIEW ORDER </strong>to enter the <strong>Order</strong> <strong>Management</strong> page.</li> <li>The <strong>Status</strong> of target order is <strong>Finished</strong>.</li> </ol> <p><strong>Method 2:</strong></p> <p>In the left navigation pane, click <strong>RDS-PostgreSQL</strong>. On the <strong>DBPaaS for RDS-PostgreSQL</strong> page, select the target region.
