Rollback Snapshot

Prerequisites

1.Snapshots have been created for the EBS disk, and to roll back a snapshot, the EBS should not be not creating snapshots at the moment.

2.To roll back a snapshot, the EBS disk has not been released.

3.If the EBS disk has been mounted to an ECS instance, you need to shut down the instance before snapshot rollback.

Usage Guidelines

1.Make sure the dependent resource still exists before snapshot rollback. Otherwise, data will not be restored completely even after snapshot rollback.

Example one: The user bound a key pair to log in to the cloud host at t1 and created a snapshot s1, but unbound and deleted the key pair at t2 and changed to password login. In this case, even if the user rolls back to s1, the key pair still cannot be used to log in to the cloud host.

Example two: The user created a snapshot s1 with an ECS instance with two NICs, deleted NIC 1 at t2, and recovered snapshot s1 at t3. In this case, NIC 1 cannot be restored even after snapshot rollback.

2.After system re-installation, the old system disk cannot be used to roll back the new system disk.

Procedures

1.Log in to the ECS Console.

2.Click Images and Snapshots > Snapshots to enter the Snapshot page.

3.Select the target region, and in the operation column of the target snapshot click Revert.

4.In the Disk Rollback dialog box that opens, check the rollback information.

5.Click Confirm, and the snapshot status becomes Reverting.

Note:

For either system disk or data disk rollback, ECS instances must be shut down.

If an instance has been mounted with a data disk, the disk is still mounted after rollback.

Result

You will see an Operation succeeded message at the Snapshot page, and the status of the target snapshot will become Reverting. About three to five minutes later, the status will become Available upon rollback completion.
