Zone Selection

Configuration item

Description

Region

Select the region where you create ECS. We recommend that you select the region that is closest to you because it helps improve access speed.

Zone

You can select default availability zone if you have no special requirement.

If your applications need to be equipped with high disaster recovery, we recommend that you deploy ECS instances in different availability zones of the same region.

If low latency between instances is required, we recommend that you create ECS instances in the same availability zone.

High availability zone

If you have no special requirement, you can select the default high availability zone.

Instance Configuration

Specification type

Instances vary in different regions.

Image

Configuration item

Description

Image

Three types of images are provided including standard images, custom images and shared images.

Standard Image

It is provided by Ping An Cloud or the third party partners and only include initial system environment.

Custom Image

Create an operating system template including Linux and Windows with the existing ECS instance. Install custom software on the ECS instance and create an image after modifying configuration files. Next time you can use this custom image to create an ECS instance, avoiding to install software and modifying configuration files again.

Shared Image

A shared image can be used to deploy a cross-tenant ECS instance. After the custom image is created, it can be shared with other tenants. Those who sharing the image can use the shared image to quickly create ECS instances that are operated in the same image environment.

OS type

Five operating systems are provided including CentOS, Windows Server, Ubuntu, Debian, and RHEL.

This article describes how to purchase a Windows instance. Select Windows operating system.

Ping An hotfix

Ping An hotfix system components can be loaded for free and enable secure application update, patch diagnosis and critical bug fix without restarting. It helps improve security, reliability and availability of the system. Currently only RHEL, CentOS, and Oracle Linux are supported.

If you select Ping An hotfix, the system will automatically install the hotfix after initial start and will restart after the hotfix is installed.

Disk Configuration

Configuration item

Description

System disk

The custom capacity range of system disk is 20 GB to 200 GB.

Data disk

Each ECS can only add five data disks. Capacity of each data disk is limited to 20 GB to 2000 GB.

Note:

•     Currently instance types of general, computing and capacity are supported.

•     Capacity EBS, general EBS, high-efficiency EBS and super-efficiency EBS that are billed by Pay-As-You-Go can uninstall the mounting. SSD EBS cannot be uninstalled or mounted but released together with an instance.

•     The specifications of an SSD instance cannot be changed after the instance is created. Attached data disk SSD local disk of the instance does not support uninstalling the mounting, expansion or independent release. SSD local disk cannot be purchased independently but together with the instance.

•     The specifications of a computing-exclusive instance cannot be changed after the instance is created. Attached disk local SAS disk does not support mounting, expansion or independent release. Local SAS disk cannot be purchased independently but together with the instance.
