Modify EBS Disk Attribute

You can revise disk and automatic snapshot release methods by modifying the EBS disk attribute.

Before you begin

You have created an EBS disk. For more information, see Create an EBS Disk.

About this task

For system disks, you can only set the release methods of automatic snapshots but not of the disks.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the ECS Console.
  2. In the left navigation pane, click Block Storage > Disk.
  3. On the Disk Management page, find the disk for which you want to modify the attribute, and then click > Modify Disk Attribute in the operation column.
  4. On the Modify Disk Attribute page that opens, tick the disk and automatic snapshot release methods as required.
    • Disk Release with Instance: Tick the attribute, and the disk will be released along with the instance.
      Important: System disks do not support ticking the attribute. They are released along with the instance by default.
    • Automatic Snapshot Release with Disk: Tick the attribute, and automatic snapshots of the disk will be deleted automatically when the disk is released manually or along with the instance.
  5. Click Confirm.
