Create a scaling rule

Auto scaling rules define the operation of expansion or reduction specifically, for example, the addition or removal of N (a number) ECS instances. This article describes how to create auto scaling rules.

Procedure

1. Log in to the AS Console.

2. Click Scaling Rules and enter the Auto Scaling Rule page.

3. Click Create at the upper right corner of the page, the page of Create Auto Scaling Rule will pop up.

4. Create Auto Scaling rules based on the following information.

Description

Rule Name

Please enter the name of the rule:

  • The name begins with an English letter or a Chinese character.
  • The name can contain English letters, digits, Chinese characters, “@”, underline (_), and dash (-).
  • The name should contain no more than 64 characters.

Rule Adjustment

Currently, two kinds of rules are supported:

Increase N (a number) instances: After the auto scaling rule is executed, N instances will be added to the existing instances in a service.

Reduce N (a number) instances：After the auto scaling rule is executed, N instances will be reduced from the existing instances in a service.

Note: The range of N is 1-19.

5. Click Confirm after the above information is selected and entered.

Result

“Operation succeeded” will appear at the bottom of the page, and you can view the rule just added on the Auto Scaling Rule page.
